Fluoride helps remineralizes enamel to strengthen teeth against decay. Fluoride is added in physically and cosmetically safe amounts to most communities’ water supplies and can also be found in many toothpastes and mouthwashes.
What Happens During a Fluoride Treatment?
There are many different ways to apply fluoride at a dental office. Fluoride can be applied as a foam, varnish, gel, or rinse. While there are different forms of fluoride treatments, they all help fortify teeth against decay for patients of all ages. Oftentimes, dentists have more than one application option and will determine which one is the easiest application process based on age, comfort level, and more.
